S1E13 ~ Hurricane season is here and we all know what that means. Winds, rain, and possible damage to your home and or property. Now, here is something you may not know. Previously, you were able to claim a deduction on your tax return from the amount of damages that were NOT reimbursed by your insurance company. However, changes that occurred as a result of the 2017 Tax Reform Act; state that you now must be within a presidentially declared disaster zone in order to claim a deduction.

S1E11 ~ Looking forward, if you own a business there are two significant changes to meals and entertainment that you need to be aware of when recording expenses.  For example, if you bring in meals for your team you previously could deduct 100 percent, now you are limited to a 50 percent deduction.
S1E10 ~ Did you know, if you are not covered by a retirement plan at work you have the ability to make IRA contributions to either a traditional or Roth IRA? You should plan to make this contribution before you file your 2019 tax return. The annual contribution limit is $6,000, or $7,000 if you are the age of 50 or older. Call into the firm for more information regarding IRA contributions.
S1E9 ~ Did you know when you buy a car, a boat, or even a plane the sales tax associated with your purchase is deductible when you file your schedule A? Also, there have been some changes to the deductibility of the interest associated with your home equity line of credit.

Life gets busy, you can now sign up for an email notification for when it’s time to pay so you never miss a deadline.
S1E5 ~ Quick tax tip on the W-9. When you or your company hires an outside vendor to provide services it is important to have them complete a W-9. The information on this form will contain entity type, address, and the identification number of the person or company performing the service. This simple practice can make your year-end compliance less taxing.
